OXFORD V LION CUBS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER look to put more National Development League points on the board when they visit Oxford on Wednesday (7.30pm).

The Lion Cubs currently top the table and will look to follow in the footsteps of their senior Watling JCB Lions counterparts, who won at Cowley at the end of June.

Oxford Chargers are firmly in the race for the play-offs, but the Lions picked up a vital home victory in the reverse fixture despite losing No.1 Dan Thompson to concussion in his first ride.

Thompson is still serving a mandatory 12-day absence and will be back in action from Friday – whilst in the meantime, Kent’s Ben Morley steps in as guest.

The Chargers have re-declared since their trip to the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena with youngster Luke Killeen on the injured list and Jody Scott, who was an impressive guest at Leicester, now a full member of their side.

Scott has already achieved a 6.11 average and therefore slots into the Oxford top five, with Arran Butcher and Jacob Clouting at reserve.

Lion Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “It’s going to be a really tough meeting and our first aim is to go for a point there.

“The team are so together, the riders and mechanics all help each other, and it’s great to see that sprit.

“We’ll have Dan back with us at Berwick on Saturday, but if we could come away with at least a point at Oxford, that would really help us for our play-off push.”

OXFORD: Jordan Jenkins, Henry Atkins, Sam Hagon, Jody Scott, Nathan Stoneman, Arran Butcher, Jacob Clouting.
LEICESTER: Ben Morley, Mickie Simpson, Connor Coles, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson, Vinnie Foord, Max Perry.
